About 20 years ago Avril E Webster published a book called Looking back at Layerthorpe: a York Suburb. It doesn’t seem to be easily available now but is available from York libraries. I’ve just got a copy and hope to share some extracts from it on these pages. To begin with though, the book includes this page from a 1959 street directory, mentioning what might be many familiar names.
